I have been some kind of active since I was 3 years old. I danced, mostly ballet, for 9 years, then I played golf for 2 years and after that High School basketball for 4 years. I started lifting weights as a Junior in High School in an elective class. I was one of only two girls in class. I decided to do the same class again my Senior year. My coach those two years really laid my foundation of knowledge and started my love for lifting weights. As I graduated high school and went to college I continued to lift weights and play sports. I joined an intermural basketball team and played four seasons.
My fourth semester of college I had a pre-quarter life crisis. I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life. I started college as Biology, Pre-Vet. After two semesters I changed and went undecided. Then I thought I would try marketing. After one semester of classes I realized that was not the path for me.
One early October day, I vividly remember thinking to myself “What do you like to do?” My answer was “Work out and help people.” With years of learning proper body mechanics from dancing to basketball and all my extra knowledge from four years of working out, I knew exactly what that meant.
That same week I dropped all of my classes, changed my major to Exercise Science and applied for the Personal Training Practicum position at the Campus Recreation Center.
After one semester of shadowing the current Personal Trainers and studying for a certification exam, I took the NASM Certified Personal Trainer Exam and passed. Over the next two and a half years I continued to work at the Rec Center with a variety of individuals — males, females, young, middle aged, and elderly. I graduated in May of 2018 with my Bachelor of Science.
I am now pursuing an education in Massage Therapy. I will graduate in March 2019 and be a Licensed Massage Therapist.
Throughout my journey I have dabbled in several different modalities, from training specific muscle groups to competing in two Strongman competitions. I have battled through the lack of time, illness and surgery, busyness, low self-esteem and confidence. Through my experiences and education, I have gathered so much knowledge. That drives me to help you find the best and healthiest you. I have a deep passion for helping people find what works for them. Each person needs something different than the next and that is why I want to help you. You will have a different story during the same phase of life than the next person and that is why at Arise we are devoted to individuality.
Currently I am a Certified Personal Trainer through NASM as well as a Group Exercise Instructor through AFAA. I am also certified through TRX as well as Balanced Body for Pilates. I also have my B.S. in Exercise Science and am pursuing a License in Massage Therapy.
